Camp Two-Way Seeing 2011
August 1st - August 5th

For children entering 3rd through 6th grades

Each year we bring in new elements through our guests and activities. We have featured "mountain men," horse-drawn covered wagons, Meriweather Lewis, and Indian drummers and storytellers. This is where learning comes in the form of fun and adventure in the arts, storytelling, music, and "hands-on history." Most importantly, the values of tolerance, diversity, courtesy, and respect are stressed by modeling cooperation between descendants of both pioneer and native people.

2011 marked tenth year of offering "Camp Two-Way Seeing" for the youth of this area. Held at the historic Applegate house and grounds, the camp immediately draws children into the past. Here they learn about the heritage of both pioneer era settlers and the native Kalapuya people who lived here before and during the arrival of European Americans.
